Canada’s First Peoples have long known the importance of passing on their cultural stories, language and customs to their own youth for future generations. Now we are learning the importance of documenting this cultural information, knowledge and history for the youth of future generations, as well as satisfying the interest of all Canadians and a larger international audience.

These new & exciting sessions are designed & delivered by Dawna Lisa Buchanan, known in literary circles as a well respected author and literacy educator (please see Dawna’s professional biography). The sessions can simply involve a number of visits to assist with beginning the process or lead to the production and publication of a book or a finished product. Clarior Consulting's level of involvement is decided by the client.

Dawna travels to communities and holds information sessions for community members who wish to be involved in having a story put into print, or those who wish to assist others do so. The first visit includes information sessions about the overall project, how to research, gather, organize and document information. The second visit will include how to edit the information, how to collaborate and incorporate authentic illustrations and artwork with local artists into the project.

The third visit will focus on layout, printing, publishing and marketing the finished product.

In between the visits Dawna, Clarior Consulting staff and others including graphic artists and print companies will be assisting the project with support of collating, editing, problem solving, copyright, print proofs etc. All material produced or published will belong to the authors & illustrators or the companies or partnerships they have formed and all usual ownership and copyright will apply.
