Susan Buchanan

Susan Buchanan has a degree in Education from the University of Alberta, specializing in Individual Differences, her Masters level in Academic and Vocational testing, a Counselling certificate from Dalhousie University and is a Certified Life Skills Coach. Susan is an international speaker and the author of two published books. Susan has been designing and providing professional workshops in communities across the country for teachers, social workers, businesses and leaders for the past 16 years. Susan's Cree heritage is very important to her and has been a driving force in much of her work with many of Canada's First Peoples. Her workshops have been described as enlightening, valuable, positive, dynamic and tons of fun!

Marilyn Booth

Marilyn Booth has an Advanced Diploma in Family Mediation from the Haynes Mediation Training Institute in New York. Basic & Advanced Levels in Management Training and Level Five Certification for Victim Services Managers from the Justice Institute of BC and a Certificate in Community Disaster Response from the National Organization for Victim Assistance in Washington, DC, USA. For the last 25 years Marilyn has worked in Alberta and British Columbia as a Social Worker, Family Mediator, Police Victim Services Program Manager and a Women's Centre Coordinator. Marilyn is strongly involved in her community and serves on the Annapolis County Police Advisory Board and the Advisory Committee for the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services which is tasked  with reviewing adoption and child protection legislation and making recommendations to the Minister.

Dawna Buchanan

Dr. Dawna Lisa Buchanan currently teaches at the University of Central Missouri. Dawna has the following degrees B.A. English Literature, Brock University, M.A.& Ph.D. in Literature, Language & Literacy, Ohio State University. Her expertise is in Language, Literature and Literacy.

Dr. Buchanan is committed to social justice issues and multicultural understanding. She is a published creative writer and teaches undergraduate students in the teacher education program. She has presented throughout Canada, the United States and internationally. Some of the projects she has worked on include international picture books; visual and aesthetic literacy, using multicultural books to promote cultural perspectives. She is committed to the importance of students' success as readers, writers, listeners and speakers and continues to examine appealing, sound strategies for teachers to employ in the theory and practice of literacy instruction.

Dr. Buchanan is the former editor of The Dragon Lode, a publication of the special interest group Children's Literature and Reading, a SIG of the International Reading Association, currently housed at the University of Central Missouri. She has instructed "From Dream to Page": Children's books and the people who make them. She is the faculty advisor for LEAD - Leading Educator Advocates for Diversity - a student group in teacher education dedicated to learning about multicultural and diversity issues so as to better serve students, their families and their communities.

Henry Sawchuk

Henry (Hank) Sawchuk is a building and fire inspector with twelve years plus experience performing inspections in rural and urban settings. Originally trained as a draftsman, Hank started his career as a draftsman for the Department of National Defence at CFB Cold Lake working on architectural and mechanical design. In the 1970's Hank worked in commercial construction as a project coordinator. In the 1980's Hank headed west to Abbotsford and Vancouver Island in B.C. where he worked for many years as a Building Inspector. From the mid 1990's until 2006 Hank owned and operated his own home renovation business. Since moving to Nova Scotia in 2006 Hank has worked as a Building and Fire Inspector and has completed his Level 2 qualification for the Province of Nova Scotia. Hank is currently a volunteer board member for the Trans County Transportation Society. In his spare time Hank is working on his fourth total home renovation!!

Jeff Keizer

Jeff Keizer has his PFP Personal Financial Planner and Counselor designations, his Canadian Investment Funds certificate , as well as his Insurance License. Jeff's experience as bank manager in several branches of one of Canada's largest banks for the last 18 years, along with his common sense approach and a respectful attitude has served his clients well. Jeff has just embarked on an interesting opportunity with the Investment Planning Counsel. Jeff has many financial tools to assist clients or groups having larger financial plans. Jeff has a grass roots, no nonsense approach and a sincere motivation in assisting others with their financial matters.
